About Mike Bane
A short brief look.
In my late 20's I like to believe myself to be an enthusiastic artist. Originally from Detriot, Michigan I would be found in the local music scene taking pictures of local bands. From there I apprenticed under local Michigan photographers learning advanced lighting and wedding photography. I would eventually venture on my own. Photographing everyday life my camera would be seemingly attached to my hand. After getting to know film and digital photographic mediums I started dabbling in graphic design. I then started a T-shirt printing business. But after a few costly rookie mistakes, the shop would eventually go belly up. I then decided to attack photography as a full-time gig. I would go on to shoot weddings and other portraiture to corporate events, concerts, and parties. However in late 2008 after Michigan and the rest of America was hit by the recession, work was harder and harder to come by. I would turn to odd jobs to keep afloat all the while still photographing when I could. During this time I would find myself as a Zookeeper, Movie theater attendant, stockboy, & retail store manager among other jobs. Eventually winding up as a photographer for Lifetouch studios. While at Lifetouch I reignited my love for photography mainly focusing on studio photography newborn to infants. While at Lifetouch I would live and breathe photography. Working in the studio during the day, weddings on the weekend, concerts at night and a few larger gigs here and there. In late 2011 I left Lifetouch to travel the eastern coast of the United States with friends. After the trip, I lucked into a position at Southwest Airlines. In the spring of 2017 I moved to Dallas for a new position at Southwest. While photography isn't my only artistic adventure it is a passion and a labor of love for me. I'm always willing to help out a project if I can and love to talk about art, people and why we are the way we are. I'm always looking for feedback both good and bad so don't be afraid to reach out. Hope you like what you see.
Thank you for your time,
